每天更新DKPS系统,调试和管理IRC channels(就是RAID团队聊天工具,好比国内的UC)。
What do we do outside of raids?
Daily (24/7) answering questions, listening to our members problems.
Coming up with new strategy plans for encounters we've yet to beat, what to raid next day/coming week. Are we
going to do some raids on the Public Test Realm to prepare for the next patch? Etc etc. Decisions like this are a daily thing.
Ensuring everything mesh together is also a must.
Keeping the DKP system up to date, moderating
and administrating the IRC channels. Looking over
applications, depending on what our current needs are (this takes a lot of time due to screening process
and reference checking, not to mention the applications themselves are
very long). Administrating/moderating the website and forums,
keeping it all up to date and clean from spammers and
posts we do not want. Constantly developing our guild as a
whole, this means new ideas for the website, forums, DKP policies (more about dkp soon and IRC. Not to mention participate in discussions on our forums and
comments to our news posts. We also blog and
have long long discussions in our very popular IRC channel
that had the worlds most people in it at one point and it
keep getting more and more people each day that
pass by, as such that requires constant watch as well. Not to mention all the questions we answer.
DKP system development and constantly updated is a thankless job. I'm currently one person (Awake) that's doing it. It requires a lot of work every day basically, I not only have to add the attendance from each raid and what was looted + who was on standby (outside the raid, still qualified for dkp, read more soon) but I have to keep myself updated with item changes on the public test realms in order to retroactively adjust prices on our items depending on if they get better or worse. It's a delicate balance. I also set the dkp bonuses on first kills and I maintain the prices on all items. This, as I said previously.. takes a lot of time. Kungen is putting equal amount (if not more) of work into guild matters as well, mind you.
Constantly working together with others on ways to improve our website and community. Well, this is self-explaining, I put in a lot of work (hours) each day for this. I recently added an Arcade (which I keep up to date, replacing buggy games etc la) and just now http://www.nihilum.eu/forum/redirect-to/?redirect=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.crawlability.com%2Fvbseo%2F was added as well. Going into details on what's exactly requires to provide the community with what they are looking for is hard. But rest assured, we're doing our very best and I (Awake) are looking for ways to constantly improve on that aspect.
There's also the PR (Public Relations) part. Where we have to make sure our guild conduct themselves within reasonable lines of how they act and talk outside of raids in IRC and on Forums etc. This is hard to keep control of, but in general it's not a problem at all. Speaking of PR, we've been taking part of interviews on WcRadio, www.wcradio.com and we've also been in several different interviews and sites like www.worldofraids.com constantly post news about us and our progress. It dosent end there though, recently we've worked together with larger sites like www.wowhead.com - which has credited us for our help and we are looking into several ways to work together even more in the future. Same goes with the worldofraids.com site and staff. Recently we had a member being interviewed by an Italian MMORPG site. They are going to publish some information about that soon.
We also have several private channels setup on IRC to discuss guild matters and what not. One is for the leadership. One for the class leaders and one for the guild. We also have a public channel - which I mentioned earlier. We tend to discuss a lot of different guild matters on IRC (and our forums) at any given time of the day. Gathering this and then looking it over is also things we try to do as much as possible, obviously we cannot agree with everyone, but often people have suggestions that makes sense. Our rules are fairly strict, we had two people leak strategy information within the last month and we were unfortunately forced to guild remove them. The information that lead up to this couldnt have been obtained without throughout investigation. It took quite some time. But we are focused on keeping our secrets to ourselves. Also, we try to release interesing movies of encounters we fight. This tend to get a lot of traffic and interest, our Kel'Thuzad movie was downloaded by over 700k. Our Ahn'Qiraj movie by over a million. Our fights from Burning Crusade, Magtheridon etc have seen equal or greater numbers as well. The planning of releasing movies takes time and we've been working closely together with warcraftmovies.com to make it easier.
These are some of the tasks I can think of currently. There's more, though. As in constantly making sure our members are acting normally and they havent had a huge attitude change for example. It's hard to explain in text, but you know how it can be. You must maintain the balance in an guild or any organization or you may lose others, as such we try to talk to people that have appeared to cause drama lately to keep it to a minimum. Sometimes members just have a bad day and they dont realise it go out over others.
